My work centers on the somatic experience. How are bodies cultured, and what types of revolts and submissions do we perform in the face of that structure? The kitchen and bath are analogous to the body's ingestion/expulsion sites and I'm interested in the interplay of cleanliness/filth and pleasure/shame that overlap in both systems. This leads to the bigger picture of how consumerism and advertising creep into the intimate spaces of bodily ritual and seemingly incorruptibly simple processes of maintaining our bodies.
