Sibley Dome Renovation
Renewing a Core Space at AAP
Part of the ongoing university-wide To Do The Greatest Good campaign, the renewal of AAP's historic Sibley Dome revitalizes an essential space for teaching, learning, convening, and collaborating across the college. Affordability Initiative
To honor Ezra Cornell's vision of "... any person ... any study" and support the creative capacities of each and every AAP student, the college has begun an initiative to increase the number of scholarship funds available to undergraduate and graduate students and enhance the student experience across all five departments.
Funding Priorities
Each year, we prepare our students to address the complex problems of today's world with the art and science of design. To provide the most holistic, transformative, and inspiring education, we need flexible funding each year. Gifts like current-use, annual fund gifts advance our college mission at our main Ithaca campus, and at the Gensler Family AAP NYC center and Cornell in Rome programs where students are afforded experiential learning opportunities.
Our goal is for students to have an AAP experience free of financial limitations, as well as to ensure access to resources such as well-being support and all the materials needed for a successful creative practice. To bring out the great promise in each student, we must fully support them throughout their entire education. Gifts toward scholarships and fellowships, the student support fund, and the AAP Annual Fund make this possible.
AAP faculty, staff, and students work together in a commitment to a community that is stronger for its inclusivity and diversity. The AAP Diversity and Inclusion Fund provides support for recruitment and retention of exceptional students and faculty, as well as staff and resources to ensure access and support for student success at AAP.
Our faculty and students are taking on some of the greatest global challenges of our time, from climate change to rapid urbanization. We can move the needle in these areas in our lifetime with a multidisciplinary approach that bridges design, planning, engineering, health care, and more at Cornell.

Renovations to Revitalize Sibley Dome as Vital Hub for AAP
Featuring a 100-seat "hanging" auditorium, a collaborative commons area, and flexible studios and spaces for the Department of Design Tech and the Cornell Mui Ho Center for Cities, the adaptive reuse project celebrates the 1902 building's historic elements while giving it new life within the college.
