Abstract

In the intricate tapestry of urban development, the fusion of ultra-extreme high-density cities with super Transit-Oriented Developments (TODs) and sustainable, place-making super high-rise design heralds a new era in urban evolution. This presentation delves deep into the fabric of international and regional TODs, exemplified by the West Kowloon Cultural District, transcending city boundaries to expand the TOD network across regions. Illustrating the transformative power of TODs, we explore how this model fosters connectivity and community integration on a scale that transcends traditional urban planning paradigms. Shifting the focus to sustainable place-making super high-rise design, we delve into the Wuhan Chow Tai Fook Finance Center—a project that seeks to reconnect the city, humans, and nature, embodying the essence of holistic urban living. Through these compelling case studies, we navigate the intricate balance between global connectivity and local context, weaving a narrative that envisions ultra-dense urban landscapes as interconnected, sustainable ecosystems that prioritize livability alongside efficiency. Join us on a journey through the realms of urban design, where innovation, sustainability, and human-centricity converge to redefine the future urban fabric of our rapidly evolving cities.
