Francesco Garofalo is the founder of Openfabric, a young landscape architecture and urban design practice based in Rotterdam and Milan. Openfabric is currently engaged in several countries, such as the Netherlands, Italy, Russia, China, UAE, Georgia, Albania, Colombia, and Peru. The firm has been widely exhibited and awarded, from Triennale di Milano, AIA New York, to Matadero Madrid, COAC Barcelona, and the 2014 Venice Biennale of Architecture, "Fundamentals."

Responding to the large variety of possibilities that the intersection of city, society, and nature creates, the firm's projects cover varied fields of action. They range from urban installations through public space design, to large landscape strategic plans; waterfronts, campuses, squares, streetscapes, parks, and playgrounds.
