Exhibition Abstract

Our exhibition delves into the dual nature of transitioning into adulthood in one's twenties, highlighting both the beauty and horror of this transformative decade. We both are attracted to hauntingly beautiful visuals, which is a shared theme evident in our work. The "beauty" is depicted through vibrant, intricate artworks showcasing achievements, relationships, and newfound independence. These pieces feature colorful compositions and uplifting themes, capturing the excitement and joy of exploring one's identity and potential.

In contrast, the "horror" or "ugliness" is illustrated through stark imagery and chaotic forms that confront anxieties, disillusionments, and societal pressures. These works use dissonant colors and raw emotions to reflect the struggles and fears that accompany personal growth. Echoing Demian's notion, "the egg is the world," our exhibition represents both the egg and the world. The egg symbolizes the fragile beauty and promise of new beginnings, while the world signifies the complexities and challenges faced as one transitions from adolescence to adulthood. This dichotomy reveals the process of becoming an adult as both a beautiful emergence and a daunting entry into the harsh realities of the adult world.

This exhibition uses contrasting visuals to guide the audience through the conflicting emotions of this life stage. By juxtaposing harmony with chaos, order with disorder, and hope with despair, the works offer a space for viewers to reflect on their journeys, resonating with universal experiences of growth, change, and uncertainty.
