Abstract

NEVEREVEN delves into the unstable nature of contact zones—spaces where cultures, identities, and histories intersect and reshape one another. Through a three-channel video, image, and sound installation, the exhibition invites viewers into a multi-sensory experience, layering movement, sound, and imagery to evoke the complexities of connection and discord. NEVEREVEN extends beyond the projected screens; the installation invites audiences to navigate shifting perspectives and in-betweenness spaces where meaning is continually negotiated.

Biography

Adrian Aguilera (M.F.A. ’25) was born in Mexico’s industrial capital, Monterrey. Aguilera immigrated as a young adult to the U.S., where he settled in Austin, Texas, in the early 2010s. He received his B.F.A. (2004) from The Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and an M.F.A. in Creative Visual Arts at Cornell (2025). Working with a variety of mediums that include sculpture, text-based work, print media, video, public art, and installations, he researches the intrinsic essence that resides in objects. With an interest in scientific observation, cultural history, and social issues, Aguilera’s work is about our relationship with the physical and cultural spaces in which we coexist.
