Plugged City operates as a critique of the City of Ruins, Rome. This manifesto proposal addresses a city trapped by its own time, infested by ruins that speak more about its past than its present. For the city to grow and look forward, there is a need for an infrastructure at the scale of the city to collect and archive its rich history in order to make new histories. The Plugged City looks to the ideas of Cedric Price's Fun Palace as well as the motif of scaffolding to simultaneously preserve and construct a city in progress. The infrastructure serves both as a backdrop and a transparent landmark for the city.
