Xiaoxue Ma
Iris Xiaoxue Ma is the design director of CODA, an award-winning design practice specializing in unique, site-responsive, and sustainable solutions that balance function and desire. Tackling design at different scales and locales, Ma's work experience spans from large-scale commercial projects to tiny houses and temporary pavilions in the US, Canada, and China. Ma holds a B.A. in architectural studies and psychology from the University of Toronto, and an M.Arch. from Cornell University, where she was the recipient of the Helen Hagan Tyler Graduate Fellowship and was awarded the AIA Henry Adams Medal and Certificate of Merit. At Cornell, Ma has taught foundational and advanced design studios at undergraduate and graduate levels with a focus on integrative approaches in ecology, materiality, transformation, ephemeral spaces, and the tactics of bridging design aesthetics and buildability.
