Ryan Thomas
Ryan Thomas is interested in the evolution of methods in environmental planning and decision-making, specifically in the areas of land use planning, climate change adaptation, and the challenges of planning with informality. His research analyzes the environmental, social, and economic values often hidden within methodological alternatives and "best practice" methods.
Prior to doctoral research, Ryan worked for the Data Driven EnviroLab, a research group at the Yale School of the Environmental and National University of Singapore, and consulted to USAID and the State Department.
Ryan holds an M.A. in community planning from the University of Cincinnati, where he participated in an informal settlement mapping project in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
