Jordan Young

Jordan Young joins Cornell AAP in fall 2022 as a Design Teaching Fellow. He will teach first-year undergraduate design studios and a seminar titled Mutations of the American House. His work examines the formal, material, and programmatic peculiarities of vernacular architecture and objects to find new spatial opportunities. Young's research tests new methods of making by examining the intersections between representation, computation, and digital fabrication techniques.

Young is cofounder of office office, a design-research practice which develops multi-scalar projects that seek to defamiliarize everyday objects, materials, and spaces. Through exhibitions, installations, and research, the practice engages in a dialogue between image and object to consider how conventional and non-conventional methods of making and representation can challenge our perception and understanding of the content we engage with.

Prior to joining AAP as a Design Teaching Fellow, Young was an AAP Teaching Associate, where he taught first-year undergraduate and introduction to architecture design studios. Before founding office office, he most recently practiced at Jefferson Lettieri Office in Ithaca and Diller Scofidio + Renfro in New York City.

Young is a graduate of Cornell University where he received a Master of Architecture. He is the recipient of the Henry Adams Medal of Honor, the Eschweiler Prize, and the Mellon Urbanism Fellowship. His work has been published in PLATE, Association, and Suckerpunch.
