Erin Pellegrino

Erin Pellegrino is a strategist, designer, and registered architect with a decade of experience in the fields of design, business development, and creative consulting. She currently works as the founder and principal of Matter, a design firm that solves problems that span brand and digital experiences to the built environment. She is also the cofounder of Out of Architecture, a career consulting firm that helps designers explore non-traditional methods of practice. She has recently published a book with Jake Rudin (B.Arch. '14) titled Out of Architecture: The Value of Architects Beyond Traditional Practice.

Pellegrino has been recognized with an Autodesk BuildSpace Fellowship, AIA New England Design Honor Award, a Core77 Design Award in Built Environment, two Architizer A-plus awards, a Paul M. Heffernan International Fellowship, and a nomination for the EU Mies Van der Rohe Award. Her work on Alpine Shelter Skuta was featured on the cover of Phaidon Press's publication Environmental Living. In 2018, NCARB named her a Scholar of Professional Practice, for professional focus on the future of the practice of architecture.

Pellegrino has taught widely in architecture and design fields at universities including Harvard, Cornell, Parsons, The City University of New York, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology. She holds an M.Arch. II from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design, a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University, and her MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology.
