Emma Silverblatt

Emma Silverblatt is an architectural designer with a focus on community-based, and cultural production. Her current firm, POST-, expands the traditional boundaries of practice to event, exhibition, media, writing, and installation. Her personal research centers on alternative forms of housing development, grounded in the perspective that housing is a human right and that architecture has agency to work towards affordable housing for all.

Emma was formerly an associate at SO – IL, where she led a number of significant projects, including the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library in Cleveland, Ohio. She also functioned as coordinator of the Jackson Heights team for the Urban Design Forum and the Van Alen Institute's Neighborhoods Now program, providing direct pro-bono design/build services to communities for three years.

Prior to SO – IL, Silverblatt worked at REX on the World Trade Center Performing Arts Center, where she developed the translucent marble facade and theater interior scopes.

Silverblatt holds a B.S. in Architecture from The Ohio State University and an M. Arch. I with Commendation from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
