The Cornell University student chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architect Students (NOMAS) was awarded third place in the National Organization of Minority Architects annual student design competition in Baltimore, MD.

The conference theme, The EXCHANGE, conveys the sharing of ideas, partnerships, and collaborations and how our communities grow in knowledge, spirit, and connection through each exchange.

The Cornell NOMAS team's project, Mending the Divide: A Needle, A Thread, and a Future Woven, redefines the role of transit infrastructure to address the "Highway to Nowhere" in West Baltimore with the creation of a dynamic transit hub. The team utilized programs centered around art and cultural venues, supportive housing, educational spaces, and farmers' co-ops to connect and re-engage the community.

Students raise funds to attend and participate in the conference. In addition to the conference and competition, NOMAS hosts special events and guest speakers during the year, making field trips and site visits.
