Abstract

Many academic and professional planners are engaged in research, planning practice, and organizing in places that we've moved to. When place claims and identity are contested, being "not from here" can become an accusation rather than just a description. This talk reflects on learning to be in, for, and with community as a Black planner and activist scholar.
