A city is only as good as its neighborhoods. While downtowns continue to struggle, the need for affordable housing and supporting neighborhood amenities in our most disinvested communities is at an all-time high. This lecture will focus on creating mixed-income housing communities and urban design and master planning approaches to revitalize underserved neighborhoods in select cities across the country.

Andre Brumfield is a Principal and Design Director for Gensler's Chicago office and a global leader of the firm's Cities & Urban Design practice.  He is focused on revitalizing and repositioning urban environments through urban design master planning and architecture. Brumfield has worked with multiple public agencies, private sector clients, and non-profit organizations to develop master plans that shape the future of underserved communities, neighborhoods, and cities.

Brumfield is a member of Urban Land Institute's Americas Executive Committee as a member of ULI's Urban Revitalization Product Council.  He is Vice Chair of the Chicago Plan Commission,  cochair of Gensler's Global Race and Diversity Committee, and recently served on Gensler's Board of Directors.
