Tatiana Bilbao began her eponymous Mexico City-based studio in 2004 with the aim of integrating social values, collaboration, and sensitive design approaches into architectural work. Prior to founding her firm, she was an advisor in the Ministry of Development and Housing of the Government of the Federal District of Mexico City, at which time she was part of the General Development Directorate of the Advisory Council for Urban Development.

Bilbao is a recipient of numerous awards, including the Berlin Art Prize, the Architecture League of New York's Emerging Voices award, the Locus Foundation's Global Award for Sustainable Architecture, the Marcus Prize, and, most recently, the Richard Neutra Award for Professional Excellence and AW Architect of the Year. She teaches at Yale Architecture and has taught at Harvard GSD, AA Association in London, Columbia GSAPP, and other institutions. She has published in The New York Times, A + U, Domus, and other publications.

The L. Michael Goldsmith Lecture, held annually in New York City, was established in 2009 in memory of architect Michael Goldsmith (B.Arch. '72) by his family and friends in recognition of his passion for his education at Cornell, his career, and his love of the profession of architecture.

Introduction by J. Meejin Yoon, AAP Gale and Ira Drukier Dean.
