Vital Fluid

Vital Fluid explores the intersection between thoughts, bodily processes, and cultural upbringings. Each component analyzes a particular "layer" of identity, visualizing thought patterns as explosions of color, literal and metaphorical blood, and the arbitrary nature of labels used to describe skin tones for various cultural groups. Also embedded in the work is an awareness of cyclical bodily processes that are mirrored by the usage of natural materials.

Vital Fluid was displayed in Tjaden Gallery in Olive Tjaden Hall, February 14–18, 2022.

Moss Temporariliy

This exhibition examines the temporality and slow growth of organisms that we often pass by in our daily life. The sculptures analyze gradual changes and are intended to evoke an awareness of cyclical time. Inviting the viewer to touch these works made from moss serves as a reminder of slow growth patterns and resilience. Through this tactile component, the viewer enters a cyclical microcosm of desiccation and rehydration full of minute and unobservable changes. The installation provides a space for this temporality to coalesce with our own, creating an experience apart from linear conceptions of time.
