The Sagan Planet Walk in Ithaca, New York was the site for nine different planet themed hotels that were designed to be transportable from their sites in town to a central storage facility/exhibition space. Creating a cut in the earth that connects the Fuertes Observatory with the lake below, the hotel rooms were placed into specific voids along shards that protrude from the vertical face. The cut in the earth creates a space in which the inhabitant views the hotels out of context while understanding how small and insignificant they are in relation to the universe.
