Haoran holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Wood Science and Engineering from Nanjing Forestry University. He also received a Chinese Government Scholarship to study wood product processing as an exchange student at the University of British Columbia, where he became more interested in woodcraft and trained as a carpenter as well.
In his time as a Master of Architecture student at Cornell, he earned several prizes and fellowships such as the Abadan Graduate Award and the Mary Miller Lyons Fellowship. Haoran also had the opportunity to participate in several residencies and design/build projects, such as the DBR Project held by Michael Green Architecture and T-Space Summer Residency started by Steven Holl Architects.
Haoran has professional experience in diverse cultures and different environments. He has worked as an architectural intern at Antistatics Architecture in Beijing, CAZA Architects in New York City, and UNStudio in Amsterdam.
