The Glacier

The project is informed by the qualities and performative actions of the glaciers that formed and carved the Finger Lakes and Six Mile Creek, where the center is sited. Through an examination of the complex network of relationships within the site, linear information within the context of the project informs the modularity and flexibility of the aquatic center. The proposed bridge aligns along major intersections, thereby forming a connection between two previously separated communities, and operates among a set of other bridges along the Six Mile Creek. A visitor is presented with the choice of walking on the green bridge roof or entering into the aquatic center, where they are presented with a series of circulatory planes occasionally intersected by specific programs descending to the main pool and enclosed by a tall glass curtain-glass wall that allows visual continuity with the surrounding landscape.
