Familiar Archives

The visual representation elective, Re-Drawing, focuses on reinterpreting archival maps, architectural projections, and perspectival drawings from Cornell's Kroch Library. The focus on Ithaca guides the research into investigating historical maps, creating new ones, and finding new ways of representing the spaces depicted in the maps with the intent of gathering an archive of the familiar that extends to include affect and expands the notion of place these maps convey.
