Embrace of the Forest's Corruption

Embrace of the Forest's Corruption was heavily inspired by early 20th-century media, specifically children's fairytales and television. This period, notorious for black-and-white television, never overwhelmed its viewers while using highly contrasting tones. This was the intention behind using such a color palette and the story-like format. The pieces also aim to illustrate loss, literally and metaphorically. While awaiting her brother, the protagonist loses herself in a dark forest, eventually succumbing to the woods and becoming part of it. The purposeful intertwining of nature and humans deconstructs the human form into a graphic and almost gory creature, similar to the alienation felt with extreme sadness.
