Exhibition Abstract

Shoreline Confession is Oliver Stern's response to their experience growing up along the Schuylkill River in Pennsylvania. Over the summer, they walked the entire length of the river, from the outlet in the Philadelphia Naval Yard to its watershed in the Blue Mountains. This exhibition of prints processes experiences wandering the river and ways of understanding the complicated relationship between humans and nature. After years of ritual return to the river, this work engages persistent feelings of wonder, lostness, uncertainty, and solace in the undefined.
