Monuments, Memories, and Movement (2022), Mixed Media.
Monuments, Memories, and Movement is a collaboration between Rose Crawford (B.F.A. '22) and Asha Bell (B.F.A. '22) that explores visions of blackness through the employment of a variety of mediums. The works include a hand-carved chess set, a shrine, a fountain, a series of postcard-sized paintings, an embroidered quilt, figurative sculptures, and larger oil paintings. This exhibition focuses on both memorializing and decolonizing blackness through a recontextualizing of the future, past and present.
