The Dean's Letter

Art Gensler

Dear AAP community,

I am writing to share that M. Arthur "Art" Gensler Jr., alumnus, benefactor, and friend of the college, passed away on Monday, May 10, at age 85. Art's generosity and commitment to AAP were constant and came in many forms, including decades of service as a member and member emeritus of the AAP Advisory Council, in addition to his roles on many other councils and committees at Cornell.

Over 20 years ago, Art and his wife Drucilla "Drue" Gensler founded the Gensler Family Foundation to support higher education, geriatric research, and the arts. At AAP, the foundation has helped establish endowed faculty positions, create scholarships, and found and support the Gensler Family AAP NYC Center.

Art will be dearly missed by all who knew him. I encourage you to read more about Art's life, legacy, and lasting impact on our college and Cornell community here.

Kindest regards,

Meejin
