On Yesterday's Affront to U.S. Democracy

Dear AAP Community—

The hostility and violence of yesterday’s attack on the U.S. Capitol shocked the country and the world. The events that transpired threaten a deeply held belief in the peaceful transfer of leadership in the United States.

In the weeks ahead, we will see the advancement of a longstanding democratic tradition. At AAP, and as President Martha Pollack shared in her statement about our Cornell community, we all must stand firmly against violence. And ardently for mutual respect, and the democratic ideals that unite us.

Sincerely,

Meejin
