Located in the historic music city of Rochester, this project works to bridge the connection between students of the music school and the people of the city through the creation of a slab functioning as a large community space and as circulation for the school. Each of the volumes above and below the slab were assigned an idealized shape based on the nature of the activities occurring within each volume. They all come together with their impression in a shared space. Overall, the music school emphasizes the expression of difference and shared space through the creation of an experience of common ground, allowing for different groups of people to come together before they depart towards their own paths.
