Overview

The College has a multifaceted diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) framework to steer, implement, and continually evaluate AAP’s D&I initiatives. The Admissions Specialist for Diversity Outreach and Strategic Partnerships focuses on recruiting and enrolling a diverse undergraduate and graduate student body.

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Diversity and Equity and the Senior Director of Enrollment, the Admissions Specialist for Diversity Outreach and Strategic Partnerships is integral in implementing and maintaining recruitment programming and partnerships with internal and external organizations that support the college’s diversity and inclusion objectives with a focus on student access, preparation, and success. The Admissions Specialist represents the college on university committees, college committees, and with external constituents. Through these roles, the Admissions Specialist assists with implementing strategic recruitment efforts that align with the college’s and university’s mission and goals and works to raise awareness for the entire college.

As a member of the Admissions & Student Services team, the Admissions Specialist focuses on the recruitment, selection, and enrollment of AAP students with a focus on undergraduate and graduate students of color, first-generation students, international students, and students from historically underrepresented backgrounds. They will provide support and advocate for students through outreach, programming, and advising through the application process.

In collaboration with the Associate Dean for DEIB and the Sr. Director for Enrollment, the Admissions Specialist will assist in the process of evaluating, assessing, and benchmarking existing recruitment and yield efforts and approach and build effective collaborations and relationships with college, university, and community partners. For example, they will work alongside the Department of Architecture to recruit and assist in the selection of Cornell Future Architect Award recipients. They will represent AAP on the University Diversity Outreach & Strategic Partnership working group.

Enrollment representatives within Cornell’s colleges, schools, and units regularly collaborate and partner with the Enrollment Division to accomplish the University’s enrollment goals.

This is a recruitment and enrollment-focused role, with significant recruitment travel required during the fall semester. This role could be primarily based either in New York City or Ithaca; regardless of base, there will be required time in person in Ithaca for important events (e.g., admissions selection meetings, open house and admitted student days, orientation, and commencement).
