Overview

We seek an Academic Programs Coordinator who will provide a full range of administrative support to the Directors of Graduate Studies (DGS), Program Coordinators, Director of Urban and Regional Studies (URS), and the department's six graduate degree programs (encompassing two fields – City and Regional Planning, and Regional Science) and one undergraduate degree. Under the general direction of the Department Manager, and in collaboration with the DGS, you will act as the primary administrative contact for all CRP students. Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing graduate field and allocation budgets.
  • Curriculum management.
  • Guiding students, faculty, and other administrative staff about academic requirements and policies.
  • Providing information and advice on regulations and procedures regarding degree requirements, admissions, student records, financial aid, and thesis/exit project completion within the CRP department.
  • Facilitating resolution of student issues and concerns.
  • Collecting and assisting in the analysis of data related to admissions, inquiries, degrees, etc.
  • Contributing to the development, implementation, and maintenance of various university and college databases for administering graduate programs.
  • Supporting registration, assistantships, scholarships, fellowships, grade submissions, and graduate admissions administration.
  • Collaborating with college staff in AAP Admissions, AAP Student Services, and AAP Communications, as well as those doing similar work in other AAP academic departments.
  • Collaborating with enrollment representatives across Cornell’s colleges, schools, and units to accomplish the University's enrollment goals.

The Academic Programs Coordinator role is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week, benefits-eligible position performed Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a hybrid schedule of 4 days on campus and 1 day remote. However, in order to ensure mutual success, we'd like for you to be on campus Monday through Friday during the orientation and onboarding period, the length of which will be determined by your supervisor. Details on your hybrid schedule and daily start and end times will be mutually agreed upon between you and your supervisor. Occasionally, there will be some evening or weekend events requiring flexibility for coverage, with advance notice provided. The position is performed primarily in Sibley Hall on Cornell’s Ithaca campus.

If you have all those things, great! We have a few more things that we would prefer you to have, but it's okay if you don't.

  • While familiarity with Cornell-specific systems is a plus, what truly matters is your ability and drive to swiftly learn and keep your skills and knowledge up-to-date.
  • Significant experience working within higher education and/or with students.
  • Knowledge of Cornell programs such as CCI, PeopleSoft, 25Live, Workday, and Grad School Reporting.

Benefits

The pay range is $26.25 to $30.46 per hour.
