Most architecture begins on the ground. As a landscape architect, I am interested in providing intelligent and sensitive understanding to initiate and continue the process of siting and construction of structures. My interest in the broad historical traditions of site planning as design on the land provide a multiplicity of models for inspiration based on the intelligence of the past. I view contemporary concerns, such as “sustainability” and “green architecture,” as mostly new reflections on traditional methods.
