Juan Balsa

Juan Manuel Balsa is an Argentine architect, educator, and Visiting Critic in the Department of Architecture at Cornell University. He is cofounder and principal of Balsa Crosetto Piazzi, an award-winning practice based in Argentina and the United States. His work explores the relationship between architecture, landscape, and construction through precise geometries, local building traditions, and innovative material and technical solutions. He previously taught at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba and Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). His practice has received international recognition, including the Architectural League Prize for Young Architects + Designers 2025, the Architectural Record Design Vanguard 2026, the Lisbon Triennale Début Award 2025, and participation in the 2025 Chicago Architecture Biennial. He earned his architecture degree from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba and completed a master’s degree in Architectural Design at the Universidad de Navarra, Spain.
