Minor in Architecture

The Minor in Architecture for Non-Majors has been created specifically for students not enrolled in the Department of Architecture who are interested in complementing their current academic program with an introduction to various facets of architectural studies. Some students may wish to use the Minor in Architecture for Non-Majors as a means of investigating possible graduate studies in architecture. Some may wish to develop architectural specialties within other disciplines.

Students should consult their individual college registrar for information about whether their home college recognizes and notes such minors on transcripts or diplomas.

Questions regarding the minor can be addressed by staff in the Department of Architecture main office (located in 139 East Sibley Hall) or via email at b.arch.cu@cornell.edu.

Distribution and Curricular Requirements

The curriculum for students in the Minor in Architecture totals 15 credit hours minimum. Grades earned must be C or better in all courses used for minor credit. The distribution requirements for the minor can be found in the Course Catalog under Architecture Minor Curriculum and Requirements.

Minor Application and Verification of Completion Process

An interested student should submit the Intent to Minor in Architecture form at their earliest convenience, as this ensures that the Department of Architecture is aware of the student’s engagement.

As soon as a student has completed the requirements for the Minor in Architecture, they should fill out the Verification of Completion form. Once validated by the Department of Architecture and the AAP Office of Student Services, this form serves as evidence of completion of the minor’s requirements.
