Fabrication Shops
The Autodesk Design and Make Space on Rand Hall’s first floor includes a fully equipped digital fabrication lab, wood shop, metal shop, and 24/7 work area. The digital fabrication center consists of a computer lab alongside a wide variety of digital tools including CNC machines, laser cutters, and 3D printers. The analog shops include table saws, band saws, sanders, welders, kilns, and much more.

Lab Service Details
Sign up for AAP DigiFAB Lab Services can be done through our online appointment system. If you have not previously made an account in our system you will need to create an account to log in.
Laser Cutting: Laser cutting is a self-performed service. Appointments can be made through the appointment site above.
3D Printing: Lab 3D printers are available after consultation with staff or via student access to MakerBots in the lab. Consultation appointments are available via the appointment system link above. Students must provide their own filament. Any brand of 1.75mm PLA is permitted, although the Hatchbox brand is recommended.
CNC Router: CNC Routers are available after consultation with staff. Consultation appointments are available via the appointment system link above. Users should expect at least a two–three day lead time before actual use of the machine. Once you are 100% ready, staff will contact you to arrange a time for you to set up and supervise the machine while it runs.
Robotics: Use of our robotics equipment will be limited to students in qualified courses or conducting approved research, who have received robotics safety training, and have reviewed their project with shop staff. Please email Kurt Brosnan at kwb57@cornell.edu to schedule a training time or to coordinate access to our Robotics equipment.

Material Practice Staff
