Life in New York City

The AAP NYC experience includes an array of extracurricular and recreational activities to deepen and nuance students' knowledge of the city as they build lasting memories and bonds.

Select Activities

  • Neighborhood Walking Tours (Financial District/WTC, Battery Park City, Governors Island, Downtown Brooklyn, Williamsburg Waterfront, and more) 
  • Museums (MoMA, Whitney, the Met, New Museum, Cooper Hewitt, Queens Museum, Skyscraper Museum, Museum of the City of New York, among others)
  • Parks and Public Spaces (Central Park, Bryant Park, Socrates Sculpture Park, High Line Park, Domino Park, Prospect Park, and more)
  • Bike Tours (Hudson River Bike Path, Brooklyn/Queens Greenway, Bronx River Greenway, among others) 
  • Architectural Landmarks (Lincoln Center, Rockefeller Center, United Nations Headquarters, and many, many more!)

CRP students visit the Financial District and surrounding areas of New York City on a tour led by Josh Nachowitz, Senior Vice President of Research and Economic Development at the Alliance for Downtown New York.

Students in CRP’s M.R.P., M.S. RS, and M.A. HPP programs bike along the proposed Harlem River Greenway that runs from Randall’s Island to Van Cortlandt Park in the South Bronx.

AAP students visit Materialized Space: The Architecture of Paul Rudolph at the Met.

AAP students cross the walking bridge at 144 Vanderbilt during a tour led by SO – IL architects, who collaborated with a Brooklyn-based developer to design the building.
