Austin Couch

Powell, Ohio

Although I haven't started at AAP yet, their architecture program has already been so welcoming and inclusive.

Why did you choose Cornell and AAP?

For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to be an architect. As junior year rolled around I discovered Cornell's amazing architecture program. After I interviewed and visited I instantly fell in love with Ithaca, the campus, and the studios.

What experiences have contributed to your sense of belonging at AAP?

Although I haven't started at AAP yet, Cornell's architecture program has already been so welcoming and inclusive. Through CUontheHill, Facebook, Instagram, and Cornell Days, I have already met and interacted with the close-knit community I will live with for the next five years.

What are your extracurricular interests and how have you incorporated them into your college life?

I love to draw, paint, sculpt, and create anything given the opportunity. In addition to this, I love almost all sports and will probably play intramural soccer at Cornell. I also love traveling. I lived in Germany for a semester of my senior year, and it was the most transformative experience of my life.

What do you hope to accomplish during your time at AAP and after graduation?

At AAP, I want to absorb as much knowledge and skill as I possibly can, all while creating life-long friendships and bonds. I hope that my portfolio is strong and expansive and will help me land a job working at an award-winning modern residential architecture firm.
