Vital Fluid explores the intersection between thoughts, bodily processes, and cultural upbringings. Each component analyzes a particular “layer” of identity, visualizing thought patterns as explosions of color, literal and metaphorical blood, and the arbitrary nature of labels used to describe skin tones for various cultural groups. Also embedded in the work is an awareness of cyclical bodily processes that are mirrored by the usage of natural materials. Vital Fluid was displayed in Tjaden Gallery in Olive Tjaden Hall from February 14–18, 2022.
