Carla is passionate about the impact that architecture can have on the larger urban context. Her interests at AAP culminated on her final thesis project where she re-imagined the afterlife of urban highways as unique generators of public space that can serve to remediate and repair fractured urban conditions.

In addition to her undergraduate degree in architecture, Carla also pursued a minor in Urban and Regional Studies. She was the recipient of the William S. Downing Prize in 2020 for her project con.duc.tion as well as the Priscilla and Robert Joy ’72 Prize at Cornell in Rome in 2019. She was recently selected by Metropolis Magazine for the Future100 Award which recognized her as one of the top 100 graduating students from architecture and design programs in the United States and Canada. Her work was featured in the Metropolis Magazine April 2021 issue as well as the Cornell AAP Association Volume 12 publication.

Carla will be starting as an architectural designer at Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill in New York City this fall.
