For his design thesis, Alp attempted to expose the violent histories that characterize the maritime, urban, and suburban/rural distinct border conditions between Greece and Turkey by exploring reconciliatory and reparative interventions at the borders themselves—through a symbolic, subversive, and substantive erasure of the border. This project is representative of his interests in how the history, theory, and design of architecture and infrastructure interact with current issues like migration and borders.
