These two prints are the beginning of a greater exploration of the plight of contemporary domestic life. With this comes an investigation into the burdens of routine and the elusive portrayal and glorification of private life.
Influential in these works is the transfer of the layered materiality of printmaking into the final images. The 5-9 is a hybrid woodblock printed in mokuhanga style chine-colled to an intaglio etching (two plates). Living Parts is an intaglio etching made from eight hand-cut plates.
