Monti di Pietralata: A Neighborhood in Transformation

Monti di Pietralata has been shaped by nearly a century of top-down planning. Each master plan has promised transformation, yet left behind swaths of undeveloped land. Now, a €1 billion AS Roma stadium development is advancing, raising questions about who this neighborhood is being built for. This report investigates what draws developers to Pietralata, how planned projects affect public space accessibility, and how local civic groups can inform and activate residents. Using a multi-method approach including spatial analysis, site visits, resident interviews, and historical research, we examine the built environment, transportation, real estate market, and the stadium’s projected impacts. Our findings culminate in a SWOT analysis and a community pamphlet to help residents engage with key actors. We hope to contribute to a more informed, inclusive conversation about Pietralata’s future.
