EUR Community in Question: Public Space and Policy

Our project examines how a shared sense of community in EUR is shaped by policies around public space, with a focus on green spaces, monumentality, and the balance between public and private interests. Our findings show that while EUR offers generous green space, strong transit access, and high-quality public realm, many of its most well-known buildings and newer corporate spaces remain difficult for everyday residents to access. We conclude that future policies should prioritize opening up event and monumental spaces to more inclusive, everyday uses, in order to strengthen community life rather than only supporting EUR’s role as a business district.
