The retreat is both an extension and peeling of the landscape in which the lifted, in-between, and excavated spaces, become inhabitable. These various conditions are connected by a central core that contains a courtyard, blurring one's perception of interior/exterior. The experience of three distinct worlds contained within a continuous procession was derived from an analysis and reinterpretation of the precedent, Rem Koolhaas's Maison Bordeaux.
