The Chenango County Historical Society (CCHS) and Museum is a nonprofit institution in Norwich, New York, with more than 86 years of experience preserving and interpreting Chenango County’s cultural heritage. Its exhibition and collections spaces currently suffer from inefficient and unsafe organization. In 2025, a cross-disciplinary Design Connect team of 11 students developed phased recommendations to holistically improve the museum’s visitor experience and operational performance. These recommendations comprehensively structure integrated archives and exhibition interiors using practical strategies aligned with CCHS’s mission and resources. Proposals in select spaces are designed for adaptability in other interior spaces in CCHS. All drawings, diagrams, and graphics created are intended to be practical tools for CCHS staff, board members, and volunteers to support grant applications.
