Being a new student can be both exciting and overwhelming. While Cornell is a big university, AAP is a relatively small college, so you will get to know your peers quickly. The AAP Student Services team and your Community Crew Leader are here to help!
Along with your faculty advisors, we will guide you through course selection, advanced placement credits, the college and its resources available to you, and assist you in your career development. Please find the important information below that will help you prepare and settle in at Cornell.

Canvas and Email
Now that you are a Cornell University student, all university and AAP communication will be addressed to your Cornell email address. Be sure you know your NetID (the first part of your email, i.e., NetID@cornell.edu) and how to log in. Do check that account regularly to be sure you aren’t missing any messages.
Welcome to AAP! is an online Canvas page that will be available to new students and is the online home for all things related to AAP orientation. During the semester, Canvas is the course platform tool used by most instructors. You will find resources, events, and heaps of information to get you ready for course enrollment and more generally to join our community at AAP.

Orientation
Orientation offers both required and optional events designed to introduce you to life at Cornell and to the fellow students, staff, and faculty who will help you make the most of your time here. You’ll learn about campus resources, ways to engage on campus, and a whole lot more about “life on the hill.” Some orientation programs are hosted by your college, and some are led by the university as a whole.
Students must attend all required orientation events and are strongly encouraged to attend optional programming. All programs are designed to help you get to know campus and connect with the Cornell community.
The New Students at Cornell website provides the university orientation schedule.
You will receive an email from the AAP student services team with details about the college orientation process.
