General Resources
Resume Building
Before you can apply to jobs and internships, all students need to be able to create a stunning resume that tells their professional story and captures education, accomplishments, skills, and interests. The purpose of a resume is to get the person reading it interested enough to want to meet you and to get you the interview.

Crafting a Cover Letter
A cover letter will almost always accompany a resume. A cover letter provides an opportunity to explain how your experiences will benefit a potential employer. Make an appointment with AAP Connect to review your cover letter.
What is the purpose of the cover letter?
A cover letter tells the reader:
- who are you
- explains why you are writing or applying for the job
- details why you are a good match for the organization and the position
- provides a sample of your written communications skills
Tailor your cover letter to:
- show specific needs of the employer and how you meet them
- persuade that your goals align with the organization's goals (mission) and/or projects and that your skills align with the position requirements
