Undergraduate Minor in Urban and Regional Studies

Undergraduate students from across the university are invited to minor in Urban and Regional Studies (URS). The URS degree is dynamic and varied across many subjects, adding breadth and depth to your major area of study.

To complete the minor in URS, students must take at least six courses (minimum total of 18 credits) in the Department of City and Regional Planning (CRP). Courses must be completed with a letter grade of C or better.

Graduate Minor in City and Regional Planning

Master’s students from any discipline at Cornell (except current M.R.P. students) are invited to enroll in the graduate minor in city and regional planning. The minor gives students across the university the opportunity to take advantage of the wide variety of classes offered by the Department of City and Regional Planning.

The minor is fulfilled with a minimum of four classes, totaling a minimum of 12 credit hours, which include one required course (either Introduction to Planning Practice and History or Urban Theory) and three electives (at the 5000 level or higher). A minimum 3.0 GPA is required in the coursework completed for the minor.

Graduate Minor in Historic Preservation Planning 

Master’s students from any discipline at Cornell (except historic preservation planning) are invited to enroll in the graduate minor in historic preservation planning. 

The minor is fulfilled with a minimum of four classes, totaling at least 13 credit hours and including Documents for Preservation, Perspectives on Preservation, and the Historic Preservation Workshop, and one historic preservation elective (at the 5000 level or higher). A minimum 3.0 GPA is required in the coursework completed for the minor.
