Melanie Urban is a Polish American visual artist and connoisseur of digital trash working with found text from commercial and consumer spaces. She works with poetic buffet reviews, fast food ads, community boards, and timeshare presentations, examining how these texts construct fantasies of paradise and unlimited abundance.
Through installations and text-based work, she looks at how ideas about consumption, authenticity, and belonging transform when they cross linguistic and cultural borders, particularly between American commercial culture and European post-socialist contexts.
