Maria Claudia Clemente founded Labics in 2002 in Rome, together with Francesco Isidori. She heads the work of Labics, whose interest, combining the theoretical approach with applied research, extends from the interior renovation to the urban masterplan, going through the different scales and complexities of the project. Her built work includes the Città del Sole (2016), MAST (2013), Obica (2003–16), and Italpromo e libardi associati (2004). Current projects include the extension of Palazzo Diamanti in Ferrara, and the Cascina Merlata masterplan and Jacaranda school in Milan.

Clemente is regularly invited to give lectures on Labics’s research and projects and to direct design workshops in a variety of Italian and international universities including Università La Sapienza, Università Roma Tre, Cornell University, the University of Iowa, Syracuse University, Tulane University, and the University of Hannover. Clemente graduated from Università La Sapienza in 1992 and received her Ph.D. from the Faculty of Architecture in 1995.
