Marc Tsurumaki

Marc Tsurumaki is a principal and founding partner of Lewis.Tsurumaki.Lewis (LTL Architects), an internationally recognized architectural practice based in New York City. Tsurumaki received a bachelor of science in architecture from the University of Virginia, and a master of architecture from Princeton University. He is currently an adjunct professor of architecture at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation; and he is a faculty member at Cornell University. He has taught at a number of institutions including MIT, Parsons School of Design, Barnard College, Columbia College, Syracuse University, Kent State University, and Yale University as the 2006 Louis I. Kahn Visiting Professor. He served on the board of the Van Alen Institute from 2002 to 2011 and is a General Services Administration National Peer. He currently serves on the New York State Council of the Arts panel for architecture and design.

  • ARCH 5114 Core Design Studio 4 (Integrated Practices)Focus on the development of architectural ideas in constructed, material form. The studio explores emergent topics and constructive methods in contemporary architectural practice. Design study includes the creation of a comprehensive set of representations that describes an architectural project in detail. Students work in collaborative groups and in consultation with advisors drawn from professional practice to develop a project that engages a complex range of topical areas, including: structural and environmental systems, building envelope systems, materiality and construction, life-safety planning, and sustainability.
