George Hascup

George Hascup is the founder of Hascup Architecture, a diverse firm that has created a legacy of built work in the Finger Lakes region during the past 25 years, and whose mission is to create an original body of work that embraces a commitment to contextual architecture. The unique glaciated terrain of the Finger Lakes landscape provides the framework of this diverse practice. Historic preservation, urban design, university planning, campus architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, and furniture design are the interconnected pathways of the work. The architecture is both spare and touching, revealing the essence of each particular site program and circumstance.

Hascup's teaching and practice profile evolve from the Pratt Institute, Bauhaus-based curriculum of Moholy-Nagy in contrast to the University of California–Berkeley framework of environmentalism, and William Wurster. His apprentice years (American, Bauhaus, and Cranbrook) were in the Saarinen Studio with Charles Eames in New Haven, Connecticut. Colin Rowe and O. M. Ungers's provocative leadership critically forms his Cornell experience.
